My bedroom suddenly went darker, and I knew it was happening...the lunar eclipse and blood moon were just outside my window.

I went back to sleep.

See, I watched it a few months ago and knew that there was no need for me to get up just yet. I would let other people get the nifty "stages of the eclipse" shots and combine them into one cool compilation.

I wanted a different look.

So I waited for the blood moon as it set, closer and closer to the line of trees behind my house.

After hitting the snooze on my alarm a few times, I got up...
I made my coffee...
Added two generous tablespoons of Hershey's Caramel Chocolate creamer...
Made sure I topped it off with some whipped topping...
Then got my camera out.

Oh, I got the normal zoom in shot of just the blood moon. But you can see that shot, better than mine, from other photographers.

I waited some more...
And whilst I waited, I saw a few stars...

And the Blood Moon sunk lower in the sky...

Blood Moon, October 2014, just before it dipped behind the trees.

And before the moon and the stars disappeared for the day, I put together two photos, a mini panoramic pharmacy-no-rx.net (that buy ambien ended up a square).

But wait...the moon still appeared full when it rose that evening.

What's a girl to do?

How about take a walk down the riverfront trail to get the moon rising over the local bridge that spans the Missouri River?

What I really wanted, though, was the moon inside the girders of the bridge. So, I had to practice that trait called patience...while the empty trail in the woods got darker and darker...

Hey, what would happen if I did a 5 second exposure without a tripod and purposely moved the camera around?

Five seconds of moonlight, bridge lights, and passing vehicles at the end of blue hour.

Ok, that is cool...let's try a 10 second exposure next...

Ten second exposure of the full moon.

The moon got into place, the vehicles continued to cross the river, and the clouds floated in...

And then I ran back to my car.

A Sonic run for a Coke and a mini Reese's Peanut Butter Cups Blast just so happened to coincide with the super moon rising this weekend.

I couldn't resist grabbing my camera as I headed out the door and then booked it to the highest hill near town.

Blue hour was gorgeous as the moon climbed the sky...and then I remembered my ice cream.
